Breast Reconstruction (BRCA Gene Breast Cancer Risk)

Breast Reconstruction (BRCA Gene Breast Cancer Risk)

This patient is a 21 year old female who underwent nipple sparing mastectomy with immediate two-stage breast reconstruction using a prepectoral technique. She was diagnosed with the BRCA gene which put her at high risk for breast cancer in the future.

She also had congenital tuberous breast deformity (as seen in the “before” picture) which required the use of tissue expanders in order to create a space for her future breast implant. Tissue expanders were placed immediately after her mastectomy and expanded over three months. In a second stage procedure, the tissue expanders were exchanged to Allergan Natrelle Inspira® Soft Touch Extra High Profile Silicone breast implants. A 580cc silicone breast implant was placed on the left and a 615cc silicone breast implant was placed on the right. Autologous fat transfer was also performed to both breasts to create a natural appearing breast mound.
